Holland Park traffic chaos

A lorry was turning in Holland Park Avenue when its front wheel burst through an electricity manhole cover in the road, at around 11.50am yesterday.

COOL Hammersmith tube trains

Air conditioned tube trains which will run on the Hammersmith and City Line have been unveiled.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson joined Transport Commissioner Peter Hendy today to unveil the new air conditioned carriages that will serve the Metropolitan line from 2010 and the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines from 2011.

Holland Park trees on the move

moving-trees.jpgMighty oaks in Holland Park have been uprooted in a huge operation to ensure their future.

Workers at Kensington's central park helped scoop 13 red oak trees out of the soil by the playing fields. The trees, which were given to the park by a mystery member of the Friends of Holland Park, are being moved to help them grow to full maturity.

They had been planted in a row but had grown too close together.

A bus garage has been targeted by vandals.

On Saturday night, 11 buses at Westbourne Park Bus Garage in Great Western Road, North Kensington, were sprayed with graffiti.

This Sunday, workers from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in Fulham Road will run and cycle around Richmond Park to raise cash for the Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity.
