KCMS Concert - Alexandria Dariescu

dariescu.jpgThe next Kensington and Chelsea Music Society (KMCS) recital takes place this Wednesday, October 29,at 7.30pm at the wonderful Leighton House in Holland Park.

The second concert in the 2008/09 season sees pianist Alexandria Dariescu perform pieces by Mozart, Ravel, Bartok and Chopin.

Alexandria was born in Romania in 1985, and studied at the Octav Bancila Special Music School in Romania for 12 years. In 2002 she won a scholarship to the Pocklington School in York and in 2004 she entered the Royal Northern College of Music. She has won numerous prizes and awards, most recently the 2007 Gold Medal and Peter Donohoe Prize.

Alexandria has appeared regularly with the State Philharmonic in Romania, Kisinev Philharmonic, Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra, RNCM Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Crosby Symphony Orchestra and Liverpool Mozart Orchestra, as well as performing recitals in the USA, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Moldavia.

Leighton House will close for extensive refurbishment on November 1st 2008, and so this will be the final KCMS concert at this venue for some time. Future concerts in the 2008/09 season will take place at St George's Church, Kensington and St Andrew's Church, Chelsea.
