Posted by Ellie Dyer on Jun 3, 09 10:39 AM in News

TWENTY FIVE people were forced out of their homes as fire fighters fought to stop a blaze spreading from a 5th floor flat in Fawcett Street, Chelsea, last night.

Six fire engines and around thirty firefighters rushed to the scene to deal with the fire, which hit just before 9pm.

The top floor flat was badly damaged and crews worked hard to stop flames from leaping to the roof or adjacent flats.

During the incident around 25 people were evacuated from the building as a precaution.

The brigade was called at 8.51pm and the fire was under control by 9.43pm.

Crews from Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Battersea and Kensington were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
