Liberal Democrats win Colville

The Liberal Democrat party has claimed its first elected council seat in Kensington and Chelsea, after triumphing in the Colville ward by-election last night.

Long-term Notting Hill resident and campaigner Carol Caruana claimed 634 votes during yesterday's election to be named the successor of Labour's Cllr Marianne Alapini, who resigned after being hospitalised with stress.

Adventurous fire fighters have got on two-wheels to raise money for a cancer hospital.

Blue watch at Chelsea fire station, in King's Road, hopped aboard cycles on Monday morning to venture across the channel to Holland.

The Notting Hill film festival kicks off at the Odeon in Kensington High Street on Friday, July 10.

Every night there will be a special gala screening of a movie, plus a question and answer session with filmmakers and stars.


Children and parents are invited to the opening of a new adventure playground at Little Wormwood Scrubs in North Kensington this Saturday, July 4.

Youngsters from Ladbroke Grove and neighbouring Hammersmith and Fulham will be able to enjoy the new adventure space, which is the first in London to be completed with Play Pathfinder funding.
