Council botched 'unacceptably high' obesity figures

Posted by Ed Saunt on Feb 3, 10 09:19 AM in News in brief

Figures that show childhood obesity is 'unacceptably high' in Kensington and Chelsea have been withdrawn after claims they were incorrect.

The figures, which showed that a third of 10-11-year-olds in some schools are obese, were due to be discussed by the council's health scrutiny committee last week.

It is not known whether the figures had overestimated or underestimated the scale of the problem but a council spokesman said they would be revised and put forward to the committee in the coming weeks.
