Kensignton High Street theft lands woman in court
NDWE JATTA, 32, OF SHEPHERDS WALK, CRICKLEWOOD, admitted stealing clothes, jewellery and cosmetics worth £243 from Marks and Spencer, in Kensington High Street, Kensington, on January 24.
She also admitted stealing clothes worth £79 from H&M also in Kensington High Street, on the same day.
A security guard at Marks and Spencer saw her putting the items into her bag, before leaving the shop without paying.
When she was searched, police found the other items from H&M, with security tags attached to them.
When interviewed, she said she stole the goods as she didn't have enough money to pay for them, because she did not have a job.
Defending herself in court, Jatta said: "I'm really apologetic and I will never do it again."
District judge Nicholas Coleman ordered her to pay a fine of £100 for each offence, plus costs of £35 and a victim surcharge of £15.
