FUSE Festival success
A new arts festival put together by and for young people launched in Kensington at the weekend.
The FUSE festival kicked off on Sunday (25) in Kensington Gardens, offering 13 to 21 year-olds the chance to learn more about arts organisations including The Royal Ballet
and the V&A.
There were 35 groups at the event, getting thousands of youngsters involved in dance, music, theatre, film, photography and the visual arts.
Sharn Baig-Brown, 18, one of the young people who helped organise FUSE, said: "I have really enjoyed working alongside other young people to help organise it.
"We have made some major decisions about this event, such as the name, and the different acts performing on the day.
"I liked participating in this because it made me feel important and gave me the chance to voice my ideas."
The festival ran from 12 noon to 7pm, and the organisers were thrilled with the turnout, thought to have been about 2,000 youngsters.
Although no firm plans have yet been made, it is hoped that the event can be held again next year.
