Yummy Mummy breaks into dance charts
At 41 years-old, Stacey Jackson hardly cuts the figure of a stereotypical dance music artist.
Yet the mum of four has gatecrashed the dance charts with her own interpretation of the Motown sound, with her first album Upside Down breaking into the top ten in the UK dance charts.
Now the yummy mummy from Chelsea is working on her second album, and promising to give the profits from it to charity 'Music for Youth,' which helps provide opportunities for young people to get involved in music and the music industry.
She said: "I have always been keen to help other people and be involved in charity, and I am an ambassador for Music for Youth.
"I've always been musical, too, and so this is something I've wanted to do for years.
"I had no idea that my first album would be so successful - it's just sort of blown up over the past six months.
"But it just goes to show you can do anything you want to. I was just a housewife, looking after my four kids, and now I've had an album in the dance charts in between Kylie and Lady Gaga, and my music just seems to be growing and growing."
Stacey was given the chance to record her first single just six months ago when a friend offered her studio time, and she decided she wanted to fulfil a life's ambition.
But her debut single Band of Gold broke the dance charts top 40, and the album peaked at number seven, exceeding all expectations.
Stacey continued: "It's amazing that it has all done so well, I can't really believe it.
"But I'm still a normal soccer mum, I have to fit in music videos and photoshoots around the school run and my children's lives.
"And they take an active interest in what I do. When I do photoshoots, they tell me whether they think the photos are good enough, or too sexy.
"It's important for me to have them involved, but also to make sure that I'm not missing out on important time I should be spending with them. They will always be my priority."
Stacey's four children, Tyler, Reid, Liam and Caylie, all go to school in the Royal Borough, and she spends all the time she can with them.
But she also spends time promoting the charity she is raising money for.
She added: "Music for Youth is a cause close to my heart, because it gives kids opportunities in music, but also gives them something to do, keeping them out of trouble.
"Hopefully I can help promote the cause and raise much needed funds for them."
