School Spanish day

A primary school in North Kensington had an Iberian feel as pupils got involved in a day of Spanish culture.

St Mary's RC Primary School, which was awarded Spanish School of the Year last year for its teaching of the language and culture, has had two teaching students from Bilbao working with pupils this year.

And on Wednesday (30) a special assembly was held with each year group performing a song, before the flamenco club gave a performance.

Comedy police chase in Chelsea

A man was chased through two houses and a rose bush by police officers who were told about a suspected burglary in Chelsea.

He was first seen hanging out of the window of a house in Anderson Street at about 5.30pm on Monday (28) but when he saw police arriving, he darted back in.

Forty years after setting up a dance charity at their Holland Park home, Ann Hutchinson-Guest and her husband Ivor have seen it expand almost beyond recognition.

The Language of Dance Trust was set up in 1967, when Mrs Hutchinson-Guest realised that there was a great opportunity for children to learn about dance notation and how it can be used to convey everyday movements.

In the early days, students would take over the dining room to learn at the table, with baskets of their work lined up along the sideboard.

One hundred lucky youngsters and community volunteers will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to an Olympic event, thanks to the council.

It is buying tickets to reward outstanding young people in the borough and also the volunteers who are the backbone of the community.
