An elderly couple were bound, gagged and threatened at gunpoint during a terrifying robbery.

More than £30,000 worth of unique jewellery was stolen in the daylight raid near Holland Park.

Two men called at the home of the 82 year-old man and his wife in Abbotsbury Road at about 7.15am on June 28, telling the housekeeper they had a delivery.

A 24 year-old man charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Notting Hill will appear at Crown Court on August 16.

Sofiane Ananouch of no fixed address appeared in court on June 28, where he spoke only to confirm his name, and the case has been sent for trial at Isleworth Crown Court.

A first-floor flat in Sloane Street was gutted by a fire on Wednesday (29) morning.

No one was injured in the blaze, which started at about 7.15am, but destroyed most of the inside of the apartment.

Paintings, photography and poetry produced by people affected by mental health issues are going on display throughout the borough as part of a celebration of their creativity.

The exhibition will showcase artwork made by those who use council services and, at the same time, raise awareness of mental health issues and the services available in Kensington and Chelsea.

It will tour the libraries throughout the summer, starting in the foyer of Kensington Central Library from June 30 to July 10.

Unsung gardening heroes in Kensington have been honoured in the Conservation Foundation Green Corners Awards.

The overall winner in London was Meanwhile Gardens in North Kensington, which was recognised by the foundation for its role as a therapeutic and training garden.

There were a few slippery customers at the finale of the Westway Community Festival last week.

As part of the festival in North Kensington marking 40 years of the Westway Development Trust, visitors had the chance to meet a few four-legged friends from an urban zoo.

And on the final day, Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Julie Mills, got to grips with a 6ft python - something she said she 'thoroughly enjoyed' despite a few nerves.

Two 12 year-old schoolboys have been robbed of their Blackberry mobile phones within half an hour of each other.

The first robbery happened at about 3.55pm on Monday (27) in Burnaby Street, Chelsea, when the victim - a Chelsea Academy pupil - was walking home with a friend, and a group of about 15 teenagers began to whistle at them.

A 24 year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Notting Hill.

Emergency services were called to Kensal Road at about 8.25pm on Sunday June 26, by members of the public, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Cardboard canoe challenge

As the weather heats up, some messing about on the river could be a great way to cool off.

And on Saturday July 9, youngsters, families and regular kayakers will be making cardboard canoes on the banks of the Thames, before racing them out on the river.

The Cremorne Cardboard Canoe Challenge will see 10 teams of designers racing to build the best kayak or canoe out of nothing but recycled cardboard and tape.

A crossing described as 'dangerous' by residents will not be altered by the council, despite complaints that the layout is unsafe.

The crossing at Holbein Place, outside Sloane Square tube station, was changed in 2009 by the council, but those who use it say you cannot tell where the pavement ends and the road starts.
