Snow latest: Gritters out but schools remain open

Posted by Emma Heseltine on Jan 18, 13 02:25 PM in News

With heavy snowfall across the borough, Kensington and Chelsea Council has sent its street teams out in force to grit roads and pavements.

At the moment, no schools have been closed, but the authority is urging residents to keep checking for the latest updates, and keep in touch with schools to find out if they will remain open.

All libraries in the borough also remain open, but Brompton and North Kensington libraries have been experiencing network problems today.

Other council services, including meals on wheels, are expected to operate as usual.

In a statement, the authority said: "For safety reasons we don't recommend residents gritting their own roads. Our street teams are out in force making sure as much of the borough as possible is covered."
