Chef Rick Stein and cricketer Henry Olonga were among the special guests at a charity carol service at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea last Thursday.
Both gave readings, along with Radio 4 presenter Sue MacGregor and songwriter Richard Stilgoe, at the event in aid of Sparrow Schools - a charity which provides education for disadvantaged children in South Africa.
Six Chelsea pensioners were in the 400-strong crowd at the chapel in Royal Hospital Road for a service of carols, readings and prayers.
